Clear Plastic Clothes for Spring

There is a real trend towards earing clear plastic clothing. This is going to be a big art school, street influence for Spring 2013. The retroaesthetic at play here is reminscent of both mod sixties and retro eighties influences.

One design seen a lot on the Spring runways across the world is the clear plastic bomber jacket complete with cuff and single breast that is attached with snaps. Charlotte Ronson showed this look with little silk lace mini skirt and top sets and also with black leather flared skirts and crop tops. This look is also complimented with a nice tall pair of plastic platforms.

We better hope for a rainy spring because the clear plastic raincoat also made its appearance. Valentino recreated one interesting variation of this age-old classic. The clear plastic raincoats lined with flesh colored sheer fabric. The trench shape is kept intact but clasped together with flesh pink colored buckles and hemming and tons of tiny snaps.

The clear plastic shrug in the Spring color of choice bright orange also made an appearance. Burburry showed a clear tangerine capelet edged and buckled with bright gold leather. The effect of this is very futuristic. The model almost looks like she is wearing a windshield that protects a beautiful orange and pink evening dress.

Givenchy showed many plastic accessories on his runway this season including a wood and brass stiletto with white leather that is banded over by a thick band of plastic. Givenchy also featured a three inch collar banded with gold on the top and bottom; the choker looked like a futuristic dog collar.  Not to be outdone Christian Dior showed off a clear Prespex plastic bracelet cuff that was studded with large pink teardrop shaped pink gems.

An innovative accessory introduced by Simon Rocha is a very feminine an romantic version of a clear plastic tote bag. This is a hard plastic bag that is the shape and size of a dress box with kidskin straps. The hard plexiglass surface is perforated with drilled holes so that it looks like lace.  The top of the bag is carved out in a decorative trim that is also reminiscent of lace.

The plastic clutch purse is also destined to show up in stores. Gucci and Stella McCartney showed off evening clutches made out of Perspex plastic in both clear and tobacco shades.
